Skanumaja» is a non-governmental and non-profit organization that was established in 2006. The aims of the society are to promote folk music processes and to support folk music collectives and individual musician activities, as well as to organize events and have technical support. Educational activities, course and camp organization, international cooperation. The main activities of the «Skanumaja» are: • Instrumental music’s tradition research and popularization, Traditional culture and folk music event organization. Folk music festival „Live Music” and International Folklore dance and music festival „Pa Pēteriem” • Life-long learning activities. Music master-classes with local and foreign lector participation in Society’s organized festivals and other education projects (including various EU co-financed projects) • Provides services- folk music instrument repair and manufacturing (equipped music instrument workshop for traditional instrument manufacturing and master training), event sound services, folk music and folklore performance (concert, etc.,) organization. «Skanumaja» is a small organization. It has 2 board-members and around 30 people, which regularly are participating in the activities. The society regularly cooperates with Latvian University’s folk dance group «Dandari», folk music group „Hagenskalna Muzikanti”, as well as with other NGO’s and experts, who work in the field of traditional culture.
Virbel NGO is a non-profit cultural organization whose main objectives are the traditional music playing, teaching and publishing. NGO activities are aimed at all age groups.
The leaders and members of board of Virbel NGO, Krista and Raivo Sildoja are founders of private music school of folk music in Mooste borough, Põlva county, Southeast Estonia. From its beginning in 2011 are they teachers and managers of the Mooste Folk Music School.
Today more than 90 enthusiasts different ages are learning music instruments and traditional/folk music in Mooste Folk Music school.
Utenos etnines kulturos centras is an association which consists of four people. Association manages 2-3 projects per year that are related with ethnical culture and education. Projects target people who are interested in ethnical music culture: folk musicians, students’ education and culture employees.
In the year of 2004 in the region of Utena, association started to organize ethnical music expeditions. Since then it collected various acoustical and theoretical data. Based on the gathered material these books were published: “Utenos krasto muzikantai” “Utenos krasto tautosaka” (about folk musicians and ethnical culture in the region of Utena), another book is in the making. Also there are two compact disks produced:” Utenos krasto muzikantai” (“Musicians of Utena region”) and “Peterburgo armonika” (“Petersburg’s accordion”). Furthermore, according to this collected material students are being taught to play little tambourine and Petersburg’s accordion in Utena music school and also in various master classes.
The association’s experts have regularly organized traditional instrument play trainings for Utena’s school aged youngsters, using folklore materials that they gathered themselves. Petersburg accordion and bugnelis (tambourine) playing master classes are led in international projects.
